New Zealand Rakau Hop Profile

Rediscovered and re-released in 2007 by the New Zealand hop breeding program, Rakau™ bursts with a big fruit-forward character, described by the breeder as "the whole orchard." Rakau™ offers dual-purpose capabilities, with clean and efficient bittering at 10-11% AA, but is often used in later additions to maximize the dominant fruit aroma. High myrcene (56% of total oils) lends flavors and aromas of apricot, plum, mango, pear, and other stone fruits. Some lighter notes of lime and pine are also present. An orchard-fresh cornucopia of flavors for a variety of new world beer styles.
